Experience:  Jessie has been practicing yoga since she was a teenager. She discovered Iyengar Yoga 30 years ago. She was immediately impressed by the well rounded wisdom of her teacher who enlightened Jessie on the fact that “flexibility wasn’t everything!”   Her teacher encouraged her to tap into her strength, rather than just relying on her flexibility. Training:  In 2005, she completed her first 200 hour yoga teacher training with Victor Oppenheimer, a senior teacher and direct student of Mr. Iyengar. She has continued her Iyengar yoga studies with Maureen Carruthers, another senior teacher and direct student of Mr. Iyengar and Vicky Catchpole, junior intermediate III Iyengar teacher.

In 2011 Jessie became certified as a level I Iyengar Yoga Teacher, and in 2012 as an Introductory I and II level Iyengar Teacher. She now teaches Iyengar Yoga to students of all ages and body types in the Comox Valley.

Jessie has a graduate degree in counselling from the University of Victoria, and has practiced counselling and narrative work with children and families for many years. Her passion lies in bringing these two powerful healing tools, Yoga and Narrative together to help her students, through listening to the unique story expressed by each individual body. According to Jessie, yoga is about more than just getting fit. Yoga is about fitting in, to your own body in a peaceful and happy way.  Yoga supports each of us in accessing our inner teacher and our inner wisdom.

She endeavours to enable her students to discover their inner strength and flexibility.
